As the saying goes, “you can’t take it with you” – Which, in thrift term means, the reality is there will be things I’ll leave behind. So, that’s why I feel the need to take pictures and show you all the goodies I leave behind. Why? Because, misery loves company..lol..(sorry,not sorry). First off, I’m letting you all know that Restore Habitat has become my ultimate go-to-thrift store. Lately, these stores have had some awesome pieces and I’m actually feeling my thrift loyalty gravitate away from Goodwill (which I’ll discuss on another post) and re-direct to more of the Habitat for Humanity and other low-key humanity stores and, of course, estate sales. So, with all that said, let’s take a look at all the fantastic finds I left behind. First thing I spotted was this triple decker wall unit. This piece truly had me wishing I had space. I know these are not highly sought after because of the amount of space they require, but in all honesty, I was actually wanting only one of the units.
The one with the bar area. However they wouldn’t break up the set (which was understandable). Each unit had a price tag of $120.00 and I figured that meant it was being sold separately, but I was dead wrong.. the whole freaking unit was $120.00 – I became even sicker. Thank God I didn’t have my husband’s truck because I’d been in some SERIOUS TROUBLE..LOL
Now let’s move on to another area and here I found some very nice china cabinets. I love the curved sides and smoked glass on this one.
This mid-century set was totally awesome. I absolutely adored the design pattern on the china cabinet. As you see the glass had a bit of a curvature. Excellent craftsmanship on this set.
This mid-century table set was very nice as well.
These black and silver mid-century lamps were very nice.. I’d change the shades but in the right space.. they’d give the room a hip vibe. Priced at $35 ea, that’s an excellent price.
Here’s another vintage lamp that caught my eye. The frosted glass and metallic gold was a winner with me and at $15.00 wonderful price (repeat after me.. I don’t need anymore lamps)..
This Noritake china set was very beautiful and at $50.00 another great price.
Glasses… glasses and more glasses… and beautiful ones at that. I have to constantly remind myself – I don’t need any more glasses.
Found this wooden carved stand. It has a bit of a Moroccan look and guess what… only $10.00
and after perusing other terrific finds my eyes caught this chinoiserie buffet/server. Hmmmmm.. this matches my dining set. Now the wheels began to turn… I think I could actually use this. As you see it clearly needed some tlc. Priced at $50.00 it was in my budget AND it could fit in the car. I really liked how the top slides open for extended space to reveal the actual serving top. (Great functionality)
Well those were some of the best thrift finds I saw on my last thriftscapade. Now .. on to the the things I took with me. I’m sure you guessed it. Yes, Moroccan stand came with me. Here it is in the living room. I replaced it with the white wicker stand. Far better look.
And most definitely the buffet/server. Out came the antique music cabinet that you see tucked in the corner. The statement piece in the living room stored all my music and left this empty. I unpacked my vintage barware and started to store it in there, however it didn’t store much. So this came at the right time.
First I had to gently scrape off the candle wax on the left corner (insert pissed-offness) without damaging the stain on it, then it needed a major wash job. I used Murphy’s oil soap which is excellent for wood. Next, I applied Old English scotch guard all over it to add some stain protection. The left corner got a double dose because of some minor scratches. Then I followed up with Old English polish oil for a shiny new finish. This piece makes me smile!!
The bottom area has a wine rack and extra storage for my glassware collection.
Sweet right?!!! The drawer gives me more storage for all the additional barware.
It was meant to be!!
And, I like how it takes up the wall space on this side of the room. (Side note.. kinda making me want to paint the table legs back to black… uggghhhh.. but that thought will soon pass)
One more look at this fantastic find!
It was a successful day of thrifting. I hope you’re out there finding goodies too! Remember, it’s all about the thrill of the hunt and decorating on a dime. I hope you’re inspired to get out there and see what you’ll find. As always – happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home!
