Friday Finds

Hey there everyone! It’s Friday- and a big Woohoo!! Your thrifty girl has been finishing up a couple of little projects to began my larger project, (I’ve finally mustered up the desire to freshen up the dining room).   But moving along – I’ve had this planter hanging on the wall and just didn’t get to buying the coco fiber to re-line it.

Back in the winter I dressed it up with natural clippings

Well it’s summer (almost over) and I still haven’t touched it yet…Then I remember seeing how burlap was used as a liner, well, I didn’t have any of that either.. but what I do have plenty of is fabric.  So – I figure I’d give that a try.   I found this in the pile and figure it blends perfect with the shabby wrought iron look.

Found a plant that needs re-potting (my staghorn fern) and a few cactus for filler..  Simple little project finished for zero dollars.  The fabric adds a bit of color to the wall space.

I tested it out and yes the water goes through.

Awhile back I received lovely new art ordered from HoeMama.  His artwork is inspired by women who love to nurture, encourage,  and build people up – sort of a “gardener of people”.  I fell in love with this particular piece.  The beauty of the woman and how he depicted her in the garden was very eloquent.  I can’t wait to get it framed and hung.  You can view more of his pieces here:

Let’s move onto Friday Finds:

This vintage bird cage was $12.00 –  I have plans for it and it doesn’t include a bird  🙂

A mirrored tray always comes in handy – a Goodwill find for $3.75

And this cute little hand painted birdie planter by Bob White for Napcoware for $1.00

I’m not usually into birds, but there was something about this one that caught my eye to bring it home and like I said for $1.00 it sure didn’t break the bank – giggles…

not such a bad find…I’ll figure out some use for her.   One last thing,  I want you guys to find some friday fun to start a great weekend!  Cheers to you!  Kick your feet up, relax and have a happy… See you Monday !

Friday Finds

Hey friends! It’s Friday and it really feels like this week went  fast to me.  I came back from my visit to Jersey – still on my “Goodwill high” and needless to say I’m all “chaired up”  – from the ghost chair  I found while there to this exciting new one I’m showing you today.   The urge struck me to visit my favorite Goodwill in Columbia and as soon  as I stepped in the door ” BAM!!”  there she was…   !!!!!!   Scream with me please!!!

This was confirmation that the Goodwill Fairy does exist and has become my guardian thrift angel.  I immediately snatched that ticket off and ran to the register.  Ok.. here’s the “to die for” moment… the chair was tagged for $22.75.. I was freaking ecstatic – but when the  she said I can get a senior discount (my aunt – I haven’t quite reached the age limit yet) – get ready to pass out… because I was actually faint after she rang it up with the discount – $18.00 YES $18.00…     You’re probably like me – wondering what’s wrong with it…. well I’ll show you..

….a small wear on this arm – yea – whatever — really?? ..that is definitely a “no big deal”er .. See the name of the maker..  It’s the Mindy chair which retails brand new for $1099.00  which you can view here to see for yourself.

Ok… time to call Jamil with my frantastic -(no typo – frantic and fantastic) good news.  Why doesn’t he get excited like me – I’ll never know- but he was happy about it.

I took it to his place and was happy to see it matches his bedding perfectly

His bedroom is coming along… slowly but surely – piece by piece.  Once we get everything together.. I’ll show you his place.   Remember my motto… “Patience is a virtue”.

Oh and I also found this long bed pillow for $6.99  (4.00 after disct) which I added to his bed.  He’s not feeling it because it’s kinda girly .. but I disagree… but I figure I’ll show you..

Do you think it’s too girly???  We’re still battling with it..chuckles…  I told him..he’ll thank me later- because it’ll come in handy when he wants to sit up in bed.   Well – that’s it for this week’s Friday Finds .. I hope you have a Grandtastic weekend!   Ciao!!

Patience is a Virtue

Good morning all!  I hope you had a fantastic week.. It’s hump day and I’ve got something to show you.  You know how I keep joking there’s a thrift fairy that floats around me, but seriously….I’m really starting to believe it’s true.  Patience is truly a virtue.  I’ve been looking for a chair for my office space ever since I completed it (you can see the transformation here) I’d been contemplating recovering the chair I’m using but had to face it.. it was too big, however, since I had it around, I’ve been using it until the right one came along.   I needed a chair that wouldn’t eat alot of space and yet be comfortable.  I visited my sister in Jersey this past week and was itching to get to a Goodwill.  Well we chucked on down to one in Springfield on Route 22.. and guess what I found as soon as I walked in the door.  YES!!  The perfect chair.  Ok.. I didn’t take the picture at Goodwill (battery died) but got it home and here is my Goodwill find.

I researched it and discovered it’s an Ikea Tobias chair that retails for $100.00.

Seating - IKEA TOBIAS Chair $100 - ghost, chair, ghost chair ikea, ikea ghost chair

The chair fits perfectly and it’s very comfortable.  It makes my cozy little office space feel more open.

Well the absolute best part of it.. I paid $14.99 for it!!!

Lol!!!  Yes!  So, as I say, patience is a virtue.. eventually you’ll find what you’re looking for at the right price.

A total score!!!

No More Lonely Table

Good afternoon lovies..!!  I hope you had a fan-tabulous weekend.  The weather was perfect here in SC and I visited my friend Elizabeth in Chester.   We decided to hit the indoor flea market just to see what we’ll find.  It’s so funny because on our way we saw this for sale.  Perfect Condition…what a beaut! (except the fabric -not my taste)

Wow!  The asking price  $125.00 was a steal of a deal.   I wish I had room for it or had a client who needs one – oh well..  🙂    There’s so many hidden jewels of treasure shopping here, where you’ll find friendly folks happy to sell you their goods.   We made it to the market and  here are some of the other goodies I came across.  This pair of rattan end tables was just $30.00 – recently I’ve acquired a liking of rattan.  I just wish I had the space for them because I would have scooped them up.

I saw this dresser which was also in great condition.  It was only $75.00 – I may have to come back for this, because I really like it.  I could switch out the dresser in the spare bedroom (which I’ve been wanting to do).  I have a painting project I’ve been wanting to do and it would look perfect for this dresser.

I also saw this – I’ll have to see if my son likes this.. I think it would be perfect for his living room area as a tv stand.  It was $65.00

But what caught my eye was a pair of rattan chairs.  I’ve been looking for a pair to go with a table I had.  They were tucked behind a sofa.  I pulled them out and they were perfect.  I got them for $25.00.  The gentleman quoted $30.00 and I was happy to pay $30.00 but he said give me $25.00 – so cool.. $25.00 it’ll be.. Loaded them on the truck

now the table isn’t lonely anymore and now the hub and I can have dinner on the deck

I have to paint the table to match the chairs.  But all in all – I’m very pleased with my weekend find

Later on that day – the hubby and I capped our evening off at – guess where????? —    The Drive-In Movies..

How was your weekend.. Did you find any goodies?   I’d love to hear about it.   Have a wonderful week!!

Friday Finds #4

Ok guys, you know your Thrifty Girl comes across some GREAT bargains.   I have to tell you … this week’s find by far is probably the greatest ever!!  (well except for the vanity mom found) but my insides were screaming with joy.  Goodwill is the BOMB!!  I’m officially hooked..  Ok.. I never – ever look at the electronics they have.. I always figure they’re broken – cheap- and a waste of time.  Well, as I walked past that section, from the corner of my eyes – it’s like the thrift angel spoke to me and whispered in my ear…”LOOK UP”  So I looked.. and guess what I found —–  OMG!!  KLIPSCH Box Speakers  — I ran through that store to get a cart.. raced back and scooped those bad boys up.. I was so excited I almost forgot to look at the rest of the stuff.  All I was thinking – please God let them work-

Guess how much these $140.00 a piece  speakers were ——– $5.75 ea ———–

If any of you are familiar with electronic name brands – you know Klipsch is pretty much top of the line – near Bose.  If not read about them here.   I asked the cashier if they were refundable if they didn’t work.  She said yes  – I had 24 hrs..  The hour drive home seemed like 2 hours – I was so excited to get them home.   I removed the cover and hoped the woofers were not damaged.. and look – nope..So I’m saying who in the world would donate Klipsch speakers.. they must be blown.

I hooked them up to my kitchen stereo and THEY WORK!!!!!!!   Ahhhhhhhh!!! My stereo never sound better.  All I can say is “Thank You Thrift Angel” .  Call me Snoopy – because this has been me ever since I found them..  doing happy dances.  🙂

I feel like I should have “S” on my chest  for “SuperShopper”

I hope you all have a wonderful – happy dance weekend..  Smooches!
