LifeStyle Magazine
Let's Go Thrifting by Jamala Kim Wallace
Welcome to another edition of Thrift Life Magazine. When I began writing this I pondered what shall I say, what shall I write about, and how will I inspire you. I decided to begin with the past and work my way to the present. With this said, it was my desire to introduce you to African-American furniture makers whose perseverance and determination created a legacy of furniture that still influences today’s style and how quality furniture is crafted. I hope you enjoy reading and as always be inspired.
Great edition!!!! Thank you to introducing me to such influential craftsmen and talented designers!
What a gorgeous magazine spread. It’s so clear to your readers that you’re passionate about vintage furniture. I learned a lot about African American furniture designers, perfect read for Black History Month.
Wow these designs are so intricate. My grandfather was a carpenter who made home furnishing, some of these remind me of his work
I haven’t gotten into thrifting, but I am always amazed by what other people find. I love that arm chair. My mom has some similar ones.
I love the headline of the magazine Lifestyle of the Thrift and Famous! All of these a great tips!
I enjoyed reading this and learning about these designers. I wish i could get some of those other pieces
I am knee deep in the furniture life and with these booming prices I have been thrifting more. I like finding unique pieces that fit my need that I may have overlooked otherwise. Congrats on the magazine.
Such a beautiful magazine layout. The content on African American Furniture makers was so informative. I had no idea ! Love this.
Beautiful magazine! Love how there’s info on Black designers for BHM especially!
Beautiful Edition! Love the accent pieces, I just purchased furniture so I’m going to refer back to this for some inspiration.
This is pretty good. Loved seeing the articles.
I just love thrift stores. I can usually find beautiful would pieces that really ground a room. That canopy is gorgeous btw.
This was my first time reading one of your digital magazines Jamala. What a wealth of information! I used to have a 4 poster bed made just like the one featured in the magazine. Now I’m wondering if I gave a piece of history away! Well at least I know where I can go to find it and see.
Another Fantastic edition. Girl you Rock!!. I like “when you turn that key there is a feeling of sanctuary”. . .Yes I’m home.
What beautiful magazine you have made! Love it!
Impressed, inspired and proud. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Jamala, I know I say this every time but I’m always so impressed with this magazine girl! I love the section on African American furniture makers. I’m so embarrassed to say I did not know either and this sparked like a 20 minute conversation with my husband. I always called the style of bed Henry Boyd created the Ethan Allen bed {this saddens me now} so glad to know where that style originated from.
And Marsha’s soap looks so goo, going to head on over and check them out.
Jamala, Beautiful edition! I love the historical articles on African American furniture designers. I’m inspired to look for their work. Thanks for introducing my soap line to your readers. I’m honored to be featured in your magazine and look forward to the next publication of Thrift Life.
