What’s so fun about decorating thrift style is you get to experience the thrill of the hunt and finding the right piece to style in your home – and you get it much cheaper than paying full price at department stores. Catching those sales and markdowns are all part of the thrift life and I want to emphasize, you can have a lovely home on a budget without breaking the bank or settling for cheap quality. The basic requirement with living the lifestyle of the thrift and famous is “Patience“. I’ve got plenty of that because I’d rather wait than pay full price. In this post, not only am I going to show you more of my finds and style but a few other ladies who are achieving their goals of decorating on a dime. While en route to Charleston, I saw an “Antiques” billboard and decided to take a break from the interstate and popped into the antique mall and found this two-face African carved plant stand for $40.00. Not bad since I found one similar online for more than double.
It’s perfect in the living room as I slowly incorporate more Afro-Boho pieces into the room.
On the last thriftscapade, I spotted this huge tortoise glass bowl for $6.99 – couldn’t pass that up either.
It adds a pattern design under the console table in the dining room.
And I finished polishing the handles of the campaign dresser and the black dresser came out from this space.
and it’s a perfect fit for the space and gives me more storage room.
The thrift community is rapidly growing and since I can’t buy everything (lol), I’ll be introducing you more often to others who partake in thrift adventures to decorate their homes and even plan to do more home tours (which I’m thrilled about). So, let’s move on and see who has joined the #lifestyleofthethriftandfamous!
Kimberly Cooper loves incorporating thrift finds to blend withher contemporary boho decor. She found this cabinet at a local thrift store and gave it her special touch and now it’s beautifully functional in her space as a bar area.
I absolutely love what she’s done with this.
The wicker plant stand was another thrift find and adds that boho touch in her living space.
and next she scored the black rattan stand and it’s superb in her home!
To be more inspired by Kim’s decor, follow her MiddleClassLifestyles page on Instagram. Next up, if you recall Machelle’s beautiful home tour, she’s still at it with finding excellent bargains like this tv stand and floor lamp to decorate her home. Machelle Heyward also created the FB Group Soda City Thrifters to help others find items she sees while out and about. It was her keen eye who spotted the rattan set and I can’t thank her enough!
Also, another young lady, Terri Elle in the FB group Afro Bohemian Homes, has joined the Lifestyle of the Thrift and Famous and scored this cute bamboo chair to incorporate in her decor.
And lastly, I was completely thrilled when my beautiful niece, Nadiyah, texted me a picture of her newly re-decorated bedroom. She picked out her color, painted the room (herself) and thought out her style and began the mission to decorate. Once she’s ready, she will definitely be featured here on the blog, but here’s a sneak peak of her progress.
I’m super proud of her and I know she’ll wow me with her design. I hope you enjoyed this post and continue to be inspired by what I post and I truly appreciate your reading and following along. I hope you all enjoy your week and remember – Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home.
