Re-styling my table foyer
Good morning everyone! I was amazed on the feedback of my last post about the decanters.. in fact 3 of them sold since I posted it.. (not sure if it’s coincidence or if my post inspired it) but I was happy to see it happened. As you know by now I’ve been working on my foyer – giving it an update to create more of an afro-bohemian style. Scoring the screens made the most impact and sparked the thought to go that route in my foyer. The only item left to in the space was the antique Rococco table and mirror set. In this video, I showed where I took this picture and turned it it into a mirror. It was perfect for the space. I loved the oversize frame and immediately I thought it would be best as a mirror. The bamboo table was scored at the i2i yardsale and it blended witht he oversized mirror. When I styled the table, I used all thrifted finds and items I already had around the house. Although it was coming along, something wasn’t quite right (in my eyes).
In my opinion, the brass candelabra didn’t belong, the monstera plant that was getting taller wasn’t the best looking plant for the space, the items on the tray could use some lifting and the two baskets seemed off.
So, I did some tweaking on the table and here’s what I came up with..
Now everything has some height and the table appears more balanced and grouped. Even the baskets on the bottom looks better cozied together. The concept of style in groups of 3’s really works. Every now and then, we make design mistakes, but it’s always fun trying out new things in correcting them (especially if they’re thrifted)
To see more pictures, I did a little video for your viewing pleasure. Let me know what you think.
I hope you enjoy the new look as much as I do.. I have to admit (again) — I’m a maximalist.. lol.. Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home!
Absolutely love it!!
Hi Stephannie! Thanks so much
Beautiful!
Thank you Nancy!
Thumbs up! The new plant creates some symmetry with the feathers, and the grouped baskets hide the outlet. You have thrifted so many great accessories!
Thanks Ruth! You caught exactly what i saw that needed changing..
