FAUX CERAMIC PLANTER

Hey Everyone!  Well I’m back at it again with another faux ceramic planter.  After perusing  Home Goods (which used to be my go-to for inexpensive new items) for planters, I realized how expensive they’re getting.  Now of course you know, I’m all about “do what makes you happy”, but I just couldn’t see buying new planters all the time.  I usually find some at thrift stores, but even that supply boat is getting bleak.   The last set I found and bought at a thrift store was this black trio which was a steal for $20.00

I went plant shopping a few weeks ago and bought a few new babies to add to the family, however, I didn’t have pots and they’re pretty much sitting on trays until I find the right pots.  I popped into our local Goodwill and found a big glass bowl and a small glass one (both were $3.00).  When I realized one of my plants could fit inside, I decided to give it a faux ceramic painting as I’d done before.  I used paint I already had around the house and again, mixed it with baking soda.

I let them dry overnight (it was near midnight when the idea to paint them popped in my mind)

I could have left them like this, but I wanted to try something different and decided to stack them to create a base.  I used E6000 to glue them together.

E6000 is some of the best glue to use on projects such as this

So here’s my finished “picasso” graphic bowl.

I’m glad I chose to free-hand stroke a design.  I can’t draw a straight line to save my life – lol, so this allowed me to make mistakes and fix however I pleased.  I think it looks great on my livingroom coffee table.

I chose this limelight fern plant to use

There’s a different pattern on this side

You can be very creative with these.  So for $3.00 I have new planter

I hope this inspired you to give it a try and create your own.

CIAO!!!!

  1. Hi, Jamala! I really admire your ability to make lemonade from lemons! You are the queen! I’m a lazy dolt, but I can appreciate others’ hard work, imagination, and skill. Nice job! And you’re right…Home Good s has gotten outrageous on some of their prices! It’s all a part of the world we’re currently living in, I’m afraid.

    • Hey Alycia! Thanks lady… I’m glad you like it…and btw.. you’re far from a lazy dolt lol… all that table decor and the way you style… takes energy and skills… now I’m the lazy dolt when it comes to that😂
