Brick Cottage Decor II

It’s a happy moment yet sad because things are winding down for me at the Brick Cottage Project.  The bedroom and bathroom are complete and the only rooms left to show are his kitchen and guest/smoke room.  I’m playing around with some ideas for that room and haven’t finalized things yet.  But, I am super excited to reveal the bedroom.  It’s been a while in the making and we truly exercised our level of patience for this room.  Let’s start from the beginning (in case you’re new here you can click here to have a full beginning).

The carpet was pulled up, new flooring and painting and now the room looks very modern and spacious.  As I’ve been saying, he’s very minimalist (except when it comes to his wardrobe..hahaha) and didn’t want too much in the room.  We started with the Broyhill dresser (a roadside find) and was in excellent condition.  Then, I snagged this pair of mid-century night stands from Pieces of Time Estate Sale and was excited about them.

They look modern in this space already.

The fabric for his drapery was on sale for $2.00 a yard.  Normally priced at $4.00 but they were having a 50% off sale.  The drapery rods were scored for $1.00 and the rings were also scored for 10.00.  I painted them gold for a pop of color against the blue and white curtains and black rods

So let’s take a look at how everything came together, piece by piece, thrift by thrift.

The vintage Cuba girl poster was $1.00 but I had it framed with just a simple black lacquer frame.   After seeing the cost of headboards, we decided to make one using plywood, fabric and foam for half the cost.  The velvet bedding was bought at Home Goods.

For additional pillow play, I ordered some African fabric from this etsy shop to create another pattern of style to infuse with the panel fabric.

The tribal area rug is from Rugsusa.com.  Navy blue and lime green with white is always a good mixture of color.

The upright chest was scored on FB Marketplace for $100.00.  It’s great how all the wood tone pieces blend together but aren’t matchy-matchy.

The ceiling fan was scored from Restore Habitat for $40.00

I love how the headboard tuned out and it looks wonderful with the curtains and poster.

The colorful mask hung here was $2.00

Here’s another look at the minimalist decor of the room.

The lamps were from Amazon and the art deco brass and marble jewelry box was found at a thrift store for $4.00

Since Amir likes the Rams I found this brass ram on the FB Marketplace for his nightstand side of the bed.

His modern minimalist bedroom decor has fresh new look with thrift finds.

That’s it for the bedroom.  I also wanted to share the bathroom since it’s complete  – If you recall, it started like this

It was given a new look with paint, new tile, sink and toilet.  Since it’s a small bathroom things were kept simple.  The rattan basket stand is used for storing extra washcloths, towels. and toiletries.  The shower curtain and valance were made with $2.00 fabric as well.

It fits perfect next to sink without taking up alot of space.  Not to mention it’s just a cutie pie of a stand.

The Asian hat was added for a simple yet whimsical wall decor.

Well guys, that’s all I have for now at the BCP.  There’s still more to be done, but it’s mostly on the outside.  The eyesore has been torn down and a new deck is being built on the back (yay-yay!!) He’s really doing a wonderful job and taking baby steps in turning this house into a home – for the lifestyle of the thrift and famous! I hope you all enjoyed the new decor of the rooms and thank you for reading and following this rehab journey at the Brick Cottage Project.  Next to share will be the two remaining rooms.   Hope all is well with you and again thanks for reading.  Remember, it’s not how much it costs, but how you style it.  As always, I hope you’ve been inspired to thrift your house into a home!

CIAO!!!
