Adding Faux Plants in My Decor

So you all know how much I absolutely love my plants..  In fact, some of them I’ve had around for several years and I’m proud of that, because before I moved south, I couldn’t grow any plants.  When I changed the livingroom I realized plants were needed behind the chaise (pretty bland right…lol)

When I added some, they made a huge impact in the décor.   Over the years I’ve switched out a few because some weren’t getting quite enough light.  The tall one on the left remained there for at least two years and started showing signs of needing more light.  So I had to make a switcheroo leaving me with one big dilemma.. I wanted a plant there… so off to the store to see what I could find.

First I went to Home Goods just to check out the scene and found these.

Granted they were nice and in even styled is wicker baskets but do you see the prices… aye-yai-yai- oi-vey..  they’re ranging from $80 to $130.00

Meanwhile, sliding into the thrift store I hit the jackpot and they’re running  between $18 to $36

Need I say more…. You know what I did next.. I snagged a couple…. (even some for a friend).  I removed the plant towards the window and placed the faux palm behind the chaise.  Now I have the look without killing my plant.

Here I added a faux fern to add some fullness to this plant.

and this pot with the faux fern adds more color to the cabinet.

My son wanted some greenery for his home without the care of live plants so he has a few faux plants in his décor.

Not only did they add color to his space but they also were very affordable (with the fiscus being a whopping $13.00 )

Faux plants aren’t so bad after all – right!  Do you incorporate faux plants in your decor?  Would you?  Trust me.. I won’t call the plant police on you if you do – LOL.. because I’m guilty as charged.  And if you decide to… Happy Hunting while you thrift your house into a home!

CIAO!!!!!!

  1. Yeah, baby! Great idea! I’m a big fan of faux plants and blooms around here because, let’s face it…real ones can’t always act right! I just knew you’d find some at a great price at ye olde thrift store. They always come through!

  2. Your faux plants look great! Because there are living plants around too, all the greenery in the room reads as real. I have no talent with plants, so knowing that a “plant whisperer” such as yourself uses a few fakes is a relief!
