Hey everyone! I hope you’re doing fantastic! It’s a new year and I’ve got a new idea for the blog… Remember the post Punch It Out and how excited I was about finding all the punch bowls? I also tinkered with the idea of hosting a Punch Bowl Social. Well after taking part in the Blog Hop and Keeping Kitchen Series, that idea has gotten me all excited. I love meeting new people and a good social conversation is always pleasing (especially now), so I’m excited to announce I’m officially kicking off the new PUNCH BOWL SOCIAL series on the blog! It’s just going to be a fun casual conversation featuring some wonderful people whom I’ve met via internet or in person. My featured guests will be someone who enjoys partaking in a bit of girl-talk and loves playing hostess. They’ll be sharing some tidbit info about themselves and who knows, you’d be surprised how much we all may have in common. They’ll also share a favorite punch or cocktail for you to try. If this sounds exciting to you and would love to join the fun, let me know. I’m going to start the series off with just a tidbit information about me- S00000 pour yourself a drinky-drink -let’s get this party started and let the “yappin” begin!! LOL!!
Tell us who you are and how you chose your blog name:
As you know, I’m Jamala, also known as Kim, and I chose the blog name because of my love of all things vintage (long live vintage). The hand-crafted beauties are timeless pieces that never go out of style. Nowadays, items are being reproduced but they still don’t hold the same quality as the original. I’m also a diehard thrifterholic who loves sharing items with my readers in hopes to inspire them to have fun and see joy in shopping at thrift stores, antique shops and yard sales for beautiful pieces to decorate their home.
What do you consider a fun girls night-out:
I’m a HouseHead – aka- house music lover – so the perfect girls night out is hanging with the ladies dancing till we get our sweat on and just enjoying the music. I’m the type to stay on the dance floor till my knees hurt and then pay for it later.
Do you have a bucket list and if so, share 2 adventures you have listed:
Yes I do!! Drive cross-country with a U-Haul stopping at numerous flea markets, yard sales, estate sales, Goodwill stores, etc. picking up all kinds of goodies. The thought of this gets me all excited and I can just imagine salivating over all the items that’s out there waiting for me to pick over to find my diamond in the rough. Second, I’d love to learn how to Salsa.. I attempted it a while ago and flopped at it. Now that I’m older I’d love to give it a try and really learn it because I think it’s great cardio and it’ll make me feel like a sexy dancer – lol (hey it’s a bucket list right??)
What do you like to collect:
Vintage Murano glass swans, vintage vanity items
What’s a favorite movie and/or book:
This is a toughie ….. because I have a few. However there’s one that always sticks with me…and that’s the Josephine Baker Story (staring Lynn Whitfield). When I first saw the movie I became mesmerized with the clothes, furniture, decor that’s featured in the move. As I watched, it was her determination and ambition during the toughest times of our nation’s era, that was is truly inspirational. She rose above the bigotry and naysayers and became a great entertainer and a fighter for civil rights. If you’re not aware of who she is, you can watch the movie here on YouTube.
Favorite quote:
African proverb – If you want to fast go alone…. But if you want to go far go together. In this world, without the support and love of others many great things can’t or won’t be accomplished. Many people who accomplished great success did not do it alone.
Drink Must-Haves:
A perfectly chilled Moscato is my go-to but I was recently introduced to Prosecco by a dear friend and now it’s become a favorite also.
And that my friends concludes this conversation. I hope you enjoyed reading and will look forward to reading more of these social conversations. Remember, if you’d like to be featured, it would be my pleasure to have you join us.
If you’d like to make the Brunch Punch featured – It’s simple:
2 1/2 cups Orange Juice
2 1/2 cups Passion Fruit Juice
1 1/2 cups Prosecco
Serve chilled
Here is Josephine Baker art I have in my home
Stayed tuned for my next guest feature – Until next time! Enjoy lovies!!
It was nice to learn more about you. I hope you get to scratch these items off your bucket list. The U-Haul one sounds like the BOMB!!!
Thanks Glenda! This blog is is more than home decor to me and I’d like to share a bit more about me from time to time, so I truly appreciate you reading it. I’m counting on it, believe me.. and of course once I do.. it’ll be all on the blog! (smile)
I’m a Josephine Baker fan, too. She lived life on her terms and had guts and endurance. She was a brilliant and talented woman.
Yayyyy! That’s great to hear.. (see we have another thing in common :-)) Yes she did which all the reasons I admire her and she did it with style and grace
Sounds like fun and I love punch!
Yes! Marsha – I think it will be.. I hope you’ll be joining us
