Another Search Is Over

Ever since I completed the dining room makeover on a $100.00 budget, I’ve been wanting an area rug under the table.  I’ve been inspired by so many looks like this and figured it was time to amp up my search.

It hasn’t been a big rush for me to find one (at this point in my life – decorating is not a rush), but I thought I’d go ahead and get started.  Patience has been a virtue for me and I wasn’t about to start being rushed over this.  Forking over hundreds of dollars on a rug has not been a forefront thought, but I’ve kept it on the back burner.  If I came across one I liked and if it’s in my price range then I’ll jump on it.  Such is the case when I came across this Distressed Ivory rug on Amazon. ****This is not a sponsored post***  I’m not quite sure how I found it but I kept clicking links and it popped up.  The silver bluish colors caught my eye and clicked it open.

Actually, I liked it alot but didn’t want to get my hopes up because I needed a fairly large one (at least 8×10) and they’re expensive.  Not to mention, sometimes things just don’t look the same as when you see them online.   When I clicked on the size, I was shocked to see the price $110.00 – WoooHooo!!!!  It was on clearance sale and I amazingly surprised.  I ordered it right then because there were only a few left in stock.  Three days later my rug was at the front door waiting for me.   It’s amazing how it changed the look of the room.  Here’s a look of the room without the rug.

See how the rug added the much needed color.

I’m so pleased with the excellent quality, texture and overall look.  I’m so glad I took the chance and ordered it.

To create a new Spring look, I’m still on a fabric hunt for new window treatments, tablecloth, and chair pillows, but at least I have the rug out of the way.  I still feel something’s off balanced in the room, but it’ll come to me.  I do realize what’s causing my dilemma it but I won’t dwell on it- I’ll just enjoy the new look with the rug.

Again, I’m so happy I waited until the right one came along.

Now , back to concentrating on the one last bedroom (gee – I honestly can’t figure it out, but it’s getting on my last nerve)… anyhow…  Have you ever ordered a rug online? If so, were you pleased with it.

As always — Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home!!!!

CIAO!

  1. It is so perfect for this space! I LOVE the color. Another great buy – you’re so good at it! {BTW, I learned the vacuuming tip the hard way too – Grandmother got on me about that 1.}

    • Thank you Nicki! I keep trying..lol..That’s great your Gma shared that tip – I’ve not heard of it but now I know… Sharing is caring 🙂

  2. Wow! It is amazing how the room looked lovely without the rug but when it was added…what a difference! I love it and I think it is always a good idea to go with a classic like that. By the way, I was reading how to clean wool Persian style rugs a few weeks ago and I read that we should never use the beater-bar on the vacuum on them. I wondered why my vacuum was filled with wool fuzz when I was done cleaning mine. ~Ginene

    • Hey Ginene!I was thrilled how much of an impact it made.. I kept thinking something was missing and BAM it clicked (after seeing all the inspiration pics) Thanks for sharing the vacuum tip I didn’t know that. Hope all is well and hope to talk to you soon.. hugs to you

      • Hi Kim, I felt like talking to you tonight so I stopped by the blog. I reread this post and I saw where you said something seems off balance in the room. Trying to figure out what you meant, I googled dining rooms and I saw that every room has frames that match in color on a wall with a window in the middle. If you have time, take a look . Even if there are mirrors the frames are very similar. And, just like you have your art displayed, the frames are even with each other on the top.

    • LOl! Hey Nancy! You know I’m always on the hunt, but this one I totally lucked up.. (late night surfing paid off) I’m happy to hear you liked the rug.. Sending hugs to you

    • Thanks Ida!Yes, I was totally thrilled at the price.. I’m going to say it was meant to be.. I’m glad you like it..

  3. I am always floored by your shopping savvy. This is one of the coolest and most economical finds!!! While I love the look of bare floors, sometimes the expanse is just overwhelming. Adding this rug was THE thing to do in this dining room. It just makes a huge difference!!! While the room was pretty without, it’s more grounded with extra texture and color to break up the wood of the floor and table. Beautiful! This rocks BIG TIME!!!

    • Thank you Alycia! I was a bit nervous about it but sometimes you bit the bullet and say wtf… and go with the flow… needless to say.. I’m a happy camper… late night surfing paid off… glad you like it!
