$2.00 Tuesday

Hey Guys!  Back with another segment of $2.00 Tuesday with two great finds.  After scoring the mid-century candy dish, I thought I was finished with having mid-century pieces around, but how on earth could I pass this up??  And for $2.00 .. NOPE .. the better of me said I had better not walk out that door without it.  So yes, this scalloped edge dish  was a wrap.  I love the the vibrant color and how it gives more color to space.

Side note:  (I’m still on the hunt for another music cabinet)… I’m thinking about painting this one until I find it.. if you have any color suggestions, drop me a note..

I was never really big on word art for pictures to hang on the wall.  But I came across this one (matted and framed).  The words hit an accord with me because when it comes to friends, I truly hold them dearly with both hands and a hug.  Life is too short to not enjoy it with friends.

And on the decor side of the picture, it matches the room’s decor and see how the little design under the words match the paisley in the fabric panels.

I like how it looks under the peacock silhouette.  This room has filled in quite nicely since the makeover and I even had room for the green family to come inside.

For $4.00 I added two pieces of decor items to our home.  Great way to design on a dime.  As always, happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home.

CIAO!!!

  1. You are definitely “The Thriftmaster”! This room really did turn out so great!
BTW, I’m curious why do you want to paint the music cabinet? It’s really gorgeous with great detail. I think a nice cream would be pretty & versatile.

  2. Great dish – maybe blue for the music cabinet too? It has lovely detail.
PS – I’m the lady looking for a vintage gold and glass side table similar to yours. No luck, so when I saw the shelving in your guest room came from Walmart/BH&G, I ordered a side table in that same line. Very reasonable price, so we’ll see if it works!

    • Hi Ruth (I remember 😉) thanks for the suggestion .. Are you thinking maybe like a navy blue? That may work.. Hmmmm I’ll go looking.. And please let me know how the side tabl worked for you .. Thanks for reading

      • Yes, I was thinking a rich color like navy blue. The new table works. I wish it had another glass shelf on the bottom but for the price, it is great. So glad to have seen it’s cousin on your blog! Good luck with the cabinet.

  3. You’re the best at finding values.
I love the color and shape of your candy dish. I also love the way the shape of your candy dish matches the shape of your live umbrella plant. Cool connections 😉

    • Hey there CJ!! How have you been? I’m glad you liked the dish. It’s funny, I hadn’t made the connection with the plant shape and bowl.. Keen eye😊

      • Hi Jamala, I’ve been locked out of my account for a couple of days.
I’ve been good. And hopefully you have too.
Yes, I have the gift for details and connecting patterns. 😉
