$2.00 Tuesday

Just when I was trying to decide what color to paint the trashcan that I had in the office, I stumbled upon an estate sale.  I was en route to my favorite bagel shop and there was a sign posted “Estate Sale” so I followed the signs (which was literally around the corner).  Apparently this was the last day because alot of the items were gone inside the house.  After rummaging through the left over items,  I went out to the garage and found this hand-painted vintage Tole ware trash can.  As you see it was marked $2.00, but here’s the beauty of it all.. everything was half off, so I got it for $1.00.  There were two of them, so I bought both.  The other was a yellow color and not as pretty as this one but for $1.00 I bought it anyway.  I figured this was the burst of color I needed in the office space.  I wanted a floral wallpaper to put behind the computer, but couldn’t find one that was in my budget for such a small area.

I always liked these and was truly happy to snag it.  Other items I found at the sale were cans of unused spray paint, tools, and stains.  I bought those and a huge box filled with more cleaning supplies, latex gloves, a straw broom, metal dust pan, and another candy dish.  I walked away spending only $15.00 and was skipping happy with my purchases.  The trash can had some tarnish around the rim, but it’s nothing some gold spray paint can’t fix.

I taped the top and bottom and just lightly hit them with the metallic gold for some enhancement.  Look how colorful the hand-painted flowers are.

The trash can adds a subtle vintage flair to the modern look of the office.  Thursday I’ll be sharing more updates for the ORC, so please stop back by.

Have you found any goodies for $2.00 lately?  If so, please share.  As always, Happy Hunting while you thrift your house into a home.

  1. Well isn’t that just the perfect find! We just went to an estate sale and I found a beautiful lace linen tablecloth for $5. It’s gorgeous and will fit my long dining room table.

    • I love with we find something on a whim like that! I’m sure your tablecloth will make it’s debut on the blog when you set the dining table.. I look forward to seeing it.

  2. Great find! I LOVE the pop of color. Yes! Yesterday I went to Goodwill and found two blue cherry blossom sake glasses (that I use for bud vases) for $1 each (so $2 😉). Enjoyed the read!

    • Hey Christina! Oh wow.. those sound darling and please share a pic of them with me so I can feature on the next $2.00 Tuesday. I’d love to see them
