AFTER THE ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

ADD A PICTURE LIGHT

Hi Everyone!  I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas holiday (hard to believe both holidays have come and gone).   I know it’s been a minute (again) since I’ve posted, but I’ve just been on yet another quick hiatus and to be honest, it’s mostly because my carpal tunnel has been bothering with me again.  So after being on the computer at work all day, come night I just kind of gave my hands a rest.  But if you follow me on Instagram, I’ve been making a few posts (trying to stay in the loop).  Ok, let’s jump right in…

Has it ever happened to you that when you THINK you’re finished with a particular project, you realized something is needed…. well that happened to me.  A couple weeks ago, I was looking in the dining room and realized the plant corner could use some lighting because the big plant was growing bigger and hiding the mask.  It was already peeking through it, but the leaves had grown bigger and needed to be lifted.

I used string to tie the leaves up to have them stand taller which covered the mask even more.  I’ve been seeing  picture lights surfacing around the net and decided to give it a try and low and behold, it was PERFECT..  I wish I’d thought about it during the reveal of this room… drats!  I ordered the light featured below and was thrilled with the outcome of it.  Very easy to install and it’s rechargeable

Here it is installed and I adore the sleek style of it.

In addition, I thought another plant would be a plus too!  One decor tip is you’re suppose to group in 3’s and I have to agree.. three on the floor looks much fuller here.

See the difference this little light made.

Now as I glance in the room, the corner isn’t too dark.

On this side of the room, I just thought a taller plant would look better and also raise this planter up.

So this area received another plant ( but who am I really kidding.. I just wanted to take advantage of a terrific plant sale and get more plants lol).

And although I do love the differentness kind of art I hung on this wall, the rocky cliff gave me a nice serene view,

But I couldn’t resist this hand painted floral arrangement.  Being they were both a great price, I could switch them out whenever I desire a change and not feel guilty.

Making small changes at any given time in your home keeps it looking fresh.  Don’t be weary about making small changes that won’t break the bank. Also if you need other suggestions, here’s my latest video on what to thrift.  I hope you enjoy it and happy hunting!

  2. I like your idea of lighting up an object instead of a painting, especially a mask with all the carving. Very sculptural! Carpel tunnel, ugh. You will just have to quit the day job!
