Last Saturday was that time of year again to go hunting at the annual Big Grab Yard Sale. If you remember the goodies I got last year, well I was on the hunt to find more this year. I know … Continue reading

Light Up My Life
Hey! Hey!! I know it’s been a while but I’ve been trying to catch up with myself.. The heat is on and the thrifting scene is HOT!!!! I’ve been on the go and I still found time and energy to hit a few thrift stores. I hope you’ve been staying cool. What I first like to say is Atlanta is one big thrifter’s paradise…Oh my goodness!!!! I can’t wait to go back and hit the scene. I thought Charlotte was booming —- but chile, let me tell you– Charlotte ain’t got sugardity on Atlanta. I want to recap with you all the wonderful items I found in the past few weeks from going to Atlanta, to Charlotte and then Jersey. My lamp fettish has gotten off the chain.. Lamps galore.. and the best thing about lamps is- there’s a ba-zillion out there in thrift stores. In this post I’m going to feature a round-up of the favorite lamps I came across. All didn’t make it home with me, but I snagged a couple. Look at these beauties I found…This pair of classic ginger jar chinoiserie lamps would look awesome in a living room and at $17.00 ea.. they were a steal
I found these beauties – perfect for a garden inspired sunroom (or if you love birds).. they are an excellent accent. I love the iridescent sheen and soft glow on the glass
and here’s another pair that I came across – do you see that price.. $20.00 ea. My brain was on lamp overload – I kept wishing I had a place to put them (I’ll regret leaving them later). They’ll look excellent with your Fall decor.. the rich earthy tones will accentuate the rooms’s accessories.
This brass beauty was only $10.00 at Goodwill in Atlanta – perfect behind a reading chair
I simply adored the pineapple leaf inspired top
I came across this pair of mint green & brass beauties at Palmetto Thrift Store in Columbia, SC. They were marked $15.00 for the pair and the store was having a 20% off sale so that made them $12.00 for the pair (yes – these came home with me)
Retro cool!
This modern mother of pearl lamp was a mere $28.00
A little brass table lamp for $6.00 was another bargain. I loved the black/gold lamp shade.
I got this modern wood/pewter lamp for $2.99 at Goodwill in Maryland. It’ll be perfect for my son’s new place (and he liked it -wooohoooo!). It didn’t have a shade – but I’m not worried about that.. One will turn up. If you follow me on Instagram then you know recently introduced my son’s brick cottage house he bought. He took a step towards freedom from rent to owning his home. It’s a fixer-upper but it’s most definitely worth it. You can follow along with us and the new hashtag for his home #brickcottageproject in which we’ll be showing the re-hab journey.
And last but not least…. I snagged this retro chandelier for $25.00 for his new place as well – (he wasn’t too much a fan of this but I assured him once he gets it hung in his kitchen – it’ll look fantastic)
One thing for sure.. it won’t go to waste… ! I hope you enjoyed my luscious lamp finds. It’s so much fun when the thrifting scene is good. At prices like these – you can play switcheroo anytime and not feel the pinch in your purse. Remember as always- Happy Hunting and enjoy Thrifting Your House into a Home!!

Thrifty Thursday
Forgive me guys, I know I’m suppose to continue the Victorian Charm home tour, but I wanted to interrupt it with a quick post of thrifty Thursday.. I have to say one thing for sure …. it’s been a freaking thrifters’ paradise out here. I can envision us (fellow thrifters) sitting in the anonymous cyber circle and admitting to our guilty pleasure of being a “thrifterholic”, meanwhile showcasing our fancy finds, giving the reason behind the addiction. So with that being said.. My name is Jamala and I’m a “thrifterholic”. Anyone else ready to step inside the cyberbox and confess with me? Don’t be afraid..there’s a lot of love in this group… chuckles…. we’re birds of a feather that flock together… 🙂
Okay.. now that’s over and done with.. let’s jump to all the goodies that were found!
I heard about a new Goodwill that opened in Lancaster and decided to take a visit. Glad I did, because I found this loveseat for $50.00. Excellent condition – no stains, smells or damages. So this came home with me for my son’s house. He just purchased his first “starter” home and he’s pretty excited. Woohooo to him!! This will be perfect for his living room.
I’m no wine specialist or sommelier but when we popped into another off the beaten path thrift store, I stumbled upon what looked like swizzle stick with a cork thingy..and did a quick research and found out it was a Winecicle. They sell for in the range from $8.00 (without an Aerator) to $50.00 (with an Aerator). If you’re like me and hadn’t heard of them, you simply freeze it approximately one hour before using your wine. Once frozen, place the icicle in the bottle to keep your wine perfectly chilled Wait for 10 mins and it is ready to pour at right temp. They’re easy to wash and clean and it’s dishwasher safe.
The one I found has an Aerator and it was $4.00. A perfect accessory for the bar cart
If you’re following me on Instagram, I posted this gorgeous crystal cut pitcher that was another thrifted find for $2.00 – They make my fresh cut hydrangeas look so beautiful
another look… because they’re just so darn beautiful… (I loooooves me some hydrangeas!!!)
insert another smile 🙂
I got an email from the Goodwill Blog letting us know of another Goodwill grand-opening in West Columbia. Me and my musketeers got up early and headed there and boy are we glad we did. I found this set of Threshold gold flatware for $10.50. They had 6 boxes – so needless to say… you know what I used my contest giftcards on (yippppeeeee !!)
A thrifting diva Toni found this snazzy club chair for $12.46. I can’t wait to see what she does with it.. High-5 Toni!
and fellow Instagrammer Marla found this fabulous pair of metal & lucite lamps at a local thrift store.. (She really peeped these bad-boys out!!) she spent a whopping $6.00 on them..lol.. High-5 and a hip bump to you girlfriend!)
and last but not least – Up next – is one of the grandest mirrors found by another thrifting diva Shelly and it was “THEEEE best” $45.00 spent. You know my mouth dropped open and eyes got big as pool balls.. lol… She gets 2 high-5’s, a hip bump and a heel kick on this score.
She’s using it in her boutique and as you see, it adds the perfect chic-ness for her decor- WAY TO GO Shelly!!!
Now you see why I was soooooo excited to post a Thrifty Thursday??? It’s really fantastic seeing all the gorgeous finds out here and how everyone is thrifting their house into a home. As always, it’s not what it costs, but how you style it. Happy Hunting and have a wonderful weekend! (up next is the Victorian Charm home tour continuation 🙂

YardSale Fun
This past weekend was our town’s big I2I Yard Sale. I must say planning it is very time consuming, but I have to admit, it’s also very rewarding. Not just because I sell to make a few bucks for my pockets, but … Continue reading
Thrifty Finds
I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and had a gobblin’ good time! As for me, I totally enjoyed my time. I visited my family back home in New Jersey and after the big turkey day, while everyone was mall dashing,we spent our day thrifting. My sister had been telling me about a new spot (new to her) she stumbled on located in Hillside, NJ, it’s called Kathleen’s Closet. She has made this her go-to spot to check out the goodies. Well, if you’re ever in NJ, you may want to check out this spot. Here are the goodies I found while there.. This mid- century coffee table wasn’t a bad deal at $25.00 (I could imagine seeing this piece with a fresh coat of paint and shiney gold paint for the leg’s brass fixtures.
The rattan shelving units were $20.00 (I would remove the bottom doors because of the hole and replace with baskets). All in all, not bad a bad price!!!
This rattan table base was only $10.00 and was still sturdy. Although finding a glass top would be difficult, but in the meantime, I would use it as a plant stand, by placing several different pots and create one big display (and of course paint it)
Not my taste, but this plaid chair wasn’t a bad price either for $15.00- no holes, tears or stains.
Leather top side table $10.00 (can you believe this??) In great condition
Spotted this wooden bar cart – Oh the possibilities with this and do you see the price – yes – $10.00
Other than missing the door handle, (easy fix) there was nothing wrong with it. This baby came home with Amina, and I can’t wait to see what she does with it.
Spotted this brass and smoked glass lamp for a mere $5.99 – and YES! it came home with me. Just needs a new shade and I have a beautiful new lamp.
This mid-century china cabinet was a cheesey $45 (smh) can you believe that.. and it lights up! Solid wood from Drexel Heritage Furniture.
Last but not least.. this double mirror Thomasville dresser – swallow hard- $40.00 –I’m ready to pass out!!
I can’t F-N believe this! All the hardware, all the drawers, nothing and I mean NOTHING was wrong with this piece.. the only thing that was really wrong —- IT DIDN’T COME HOME WITH ME!!!!!
Boy did I wish I had a U-Haul
Now here’s the clinker… You see how low the prices were, but if you were there on Black Friday, you got an additional 50% off your first 5 items.. So can you imagine… all these good pieces would have been even lower. They had several other nice pieces but these were the ones I wanted to share with you. Although we didn’t partake in the Black Friday frenzy, we did support the ShopSmall Saturday, which was equally appreciated. I know I’m a bit behind with this post, but I’ve experiencing some hand issues again.. and have been resting my hands from the computer. This week, I’m headed to the sunny island of Aruba for one of our Girlfriends Getaways – Yaaaaayyy… so I’ll be sunning and funning . When I get back I’ve got another goodie makeover to share with you.. in the meantime, have great week! Smooches!
