You know sometimes it’s the simple things we find to make our house a home. Sure, to make the search easier, we can go to Walmart or Target, peruse the isles of what we’re looking for and get it, but not often will you find them for $2.00. Then, there are those of us who hunt elsewhere for the thrill and usually accomplish the goal of finding such items. I always check my local estate sales, flea markets and thrift stores “FIRST”. Case in point, I needed another planter for the new edition of the green family and popped into a thrift store and found the basket planter for $2.00
I thought about giving it a bit of glam, perhaps later on, but for now, I’m loving it and it’s the perfect look for the plant. My friend Ginene, over at Fox and Finch Antiques hit a flea market and grabbed this vintage tin lunch box to add to her collection of memorabilia. How many of you remember having the tin lunchboxes? The daisy pattern was a popular style in the 1950s and 60s.
My instagram buddy Amber, aka, preppybohemianathome scored big time with the seashell plant hanger. My mouth dropped when I saw her steal of a deal!!
She also found a fab pillow to add to her stash of sofa accessories for $2.00. Amber has a distinct flare of boho glam and considers herself an avid thrifter, a chronic re-arranger, a coffee connoisseur, a plant hoarder, and lover of all things color! Visit her blog for more inspiration on how to create your own bohemian eclectic style.
and speaking of pillows – a big kudos to my son, Amir for scoring not one, but two accent pillows for $2.00 – to compliment his bachelor pad in Atlanta. They say the apple don’t fall far from the tree, so I guess in this case.. the old saying is true – p.s on another note – I’m giving him props for decorating his entire apartment on thrift finds. I did add a few touches but for the most part, he did it himself. (makes me smile) 🙂
And there you have it, this week’s $2.00 Tuesday inspiration finds. The bargains are out there, just remember Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home!
CIAO!!
I loved seeing your son’s finds! That’s got to feel good when you kids pickup on good habits like thrifting. That’s why I always take my kids to garage sales. You should start a movement with this $2 Tuesday! 🙂

Thank you Neti! He made his mama proud. ?
More great bargains! Why pay retail unless you are just hooked on “it has to be new!” The money I save on previously loved items, goes to my traveling love.
That’s right sis! You think like I do.. besides it’s more exciting.. thanks for reading
Go ON, Amir!!!!! I am SCARED of him!!! Anyone can waltz into a department store and buy stuff that works for a room, but to scour the thrift stores and find so much that coordinates…excellent! And of COURSE I had a tin lunchbox as a little one! I remember so badly wanting a Jackson 5 lunch pail…that I never got!
Thanks Alycia! I have him a big hug and a high five for that! And I’m letting you know… if i come across a Jackson 5 lunch pail – it’s yours..i got you!
