$100 Room Challenge – Installing Wallpaper

Hey Guys!  It’s week 3 and I’m back with an update.. I missed last week’s post because I really didn’t get much done except clean out the cabinets … I couldn’t believe how I had so much of outdated items crammed inside the medicine cabinet.  The sink cabinet was equally packed with items from when my sons were still living here.. smh….and I was guilty of just cramming more items in there.  So, that was a big yay-yay, because this challenged forced me to do what I should have beeeeen done… (you feel me?)   So this week, I started painting the cabinet base and hanging the wallpaper.  Just a quick recap if you’re new here,  The $100 Room Challenge is a challenge dreamed up by Erin at Lavender, Lemons, and Laundry to make over an entire room in your home on a $100 budget in one month.  I, along with other bloggers are chipping away at our projects in hopes to inspire you to create a space on a budget.  So moving right along.. here’s where I’m at with my refresh.

I haven’t gotten too far with the wallpaper, but I plan to knock it out by the end of this weekend.  My initial plan was to paint the sink base hunter green, unfortunately it’s not going to happen because the fabric I thought I had – I didn’t.. and what I have in my stash is a total different pattern.  So, needless to say I chose to go safely with white.  I also plan to go to a fabric store to see if they have the print I’m looking for, if not, then it’s back to my stash piece.  The sink base and cabinet have been painted (which was prior to this post).  I wanted new hardware and found some at Lowe’s for a reasonable price.  So far I spent $12.00.

This is the light fixture that will be installed.  I purchased it about 6 months ago from Restore Habitat while out on my thrifting adventures.  It was pink ticketed $20.00 which meant 50% off, so the fixture was actually $10.00.

My goal is to use everything I already have because I want to purchase a new bath faucet for the sink, which will eat majority of the budget.  So hopefully I can accomplish it.  My remaining “to do” list:

Finish hanging wallpaper

Hang light fixture

Create shelving

Sew curtains

Polish and clean existing chandelier

Clean bathroom and prep for styling

Style, take pictures, post on the blog and enjoy the bath!

So far I’m excited how things are looking and can’t wait to have it completed and finished.  Well, I won’t keep you here any longer because there are other bloggers waiting for you to visit with them on their progress.  Check out the others and give them a big cheer, because trying to accomplish this on a $100.00 is not an easy task, lol!  Enjoy and I’ll see you next week with another update.

    • Thanks Elle!! I appreciate you following along. Glad you like the wallpaper. I was a bit scared since I already had it in my office, but glad it’s going well in this bathroom

  1. Cleaning out spaces is always so satisfying, if only they didn’t take so long. Love the wallpaper, and the white on the vanity. I think it’s all coming together nicely.

    • Indeed it is. I feel so bad that it took me this long to do it. Organized “stuff” is so much more appeasing. So now I’m making a conscious effort to continue with the declutter and organize. Thanks for reading and following my progress.

    • Hey Neti! Thanks lady..I told my sons I’m going to continue with the declutter and they just shook their heads and said “yea ok”.. hence my garage lol.. baby steps..

  2. I cleaned out my medicine closet last winter and was shocked at how much stuff I had in there for so long. Some of it I had moved from a previous house! LOL. Why??? Haha, but in all seriousness, that wallpaper is amazing and I cannot wait to see this space all finished. It’s going to be stunning!

  3. Good for you for cleaning out the cabinets! I just did that at my mother in law’s place because she is moving – ugh. I was looking forward to the jade green, but sure whatever you do will look great.

  4. I have confidence in you that you will pull this challenge off. Everything is looking good so far. Are you using regular wallpaper or some of the new peel and stick? I have been eyeballing some of it myself. Medicine cabinets we are all guilty of not removing expired meds and just pushing them to the back lol. Good LUCK!

    • Hey Sonya. I’m using the peel and stick and it’s great stuff to work with. I highly recommend it. Thanks for the confidence in my choice… the reveal is next week, so stay tuned.. take care my friend
