Cheers!

I’ll say it —  Yikes!!! I can’t believe another year has left us.. where did the time go and it sure went fast.  But as they say, time flies when you’re having fun.. and that’s what I call sharing my life with you, just as I share in yours.  I’ve met quite a few new friends through my blog and simply enjoy all the good company.  The sharing and caring that I see and feel makes me forget all about the “bad” things in this hard-knock life.  So I must say “Thank You” for being there.  Before I finish out this year I have to share a quick make-over I did for New Years Eve.  I came across this really old wooden tray for $1.00 (and you know I dig making over these trays – yes I still use that “70’s” word)  chuckles….

It’s the perfect size to serve the drinks for NYE-2015.  So I decided to give this one a bit of a festive look.  I used Martha Stewart metallic paint in thundercloud

I lined the bottom with glitter paper and now I have a festive new tray for $3.00

The glitter paper adds just enough shimmer for that sparkly look

This will be my first time hosting a NYE get together since living here and I’m pretty excited.  So we’ll be playing a few games, do a little dancing while snacking on finger foods all night.  Of course there’ll be some bubbly to go along with all the fun and laughter.   Glad I found this tray to make carrying drinks a bit more easier.

So my Loveys!!

I hope you have a wonderful, happy, and safe time ringing in the New Year…  Sending you warm wishes and a big hug!

See you in 2015  —-   SMOOCHES!!!

$2.00 Tuesday #12

Hi everyone – I hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day holiday.  As they say, it’s a bid to say farewell to summer, although the weather here in South Carolina says summer doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere (which makes me happy).

Today’s episode of $2.00 Tuesday  item was shared with me by my friend Elizabeth Claytor of the beautiful Inn Upon Moon River Plantation Bed & Breakfast.  Elizabeth, like myself loves to hunt for thrifty finds.  You can read about her other fab finds here.    Just in time for Fall – she lucked up on this hand-embroidered vintage table linen set at her local Salvation Army in Chester.  They had a big grand opening last week and I was there.  I, too, lucked up with a fab find which I’ll post about on Friday’s Fab Finds.

The set includes the rectangular tablecloth with 6 matching napkins.   Vintage embroidered linen is always a must to have somewhere stashed in your collectibles.   The hand sewn details are beautiful and I’ve always admired the details taken to create these lovely items.

See how the multi-color thread is used to highlight the flowers and leaves to add the right amount of fall essence to the cloth.

Can you imagine – all this handwork-  sold for $2.00..Wow…The crispness of this freshly washed, starched and ironed vintage linen adds the perfect touch to any Fall table setting.  Kudos to Elizabeth on her fab $2.00 Tuesday find.   Remember, if you come across a fantastic item for $2.00, by all means do share.  I’d love to hear about it.   You can also post it on Instagram using hashtag #2dollartuesdayfinds or  #urthriftygirlfinds.   Here’s wishing you an enjoyable week ahead.. Take care and as always “VivaLaVintage!!”

$2.00 Tuesday

Good afternoon everyone!  It’s your thrifty girl and it’s Tuesday.  I’m here to show you that I’ve struck again and lucked up with a $2.00 find.   Today’s lucky purchase was from The Lighthouse, a local thrift shop in our town that’s ran by volunteers.   I took a much needed break from my dining room makeover.  I must say it’s coming along quite nicely and I look forward to showing it to you soon.

Today’s $2.00 item was this lovely vintage Samsonite suitcase.

They had them tucked all the way in the back and my keen thrifty eyes spotted them.  The suitcase was $2.00!!  I couldn’t believe it.  On top of that.. I found the matching train case for $1.00.  Wow!!!  I love vintage suitcases.  The train cases are so sturdy and have plenty room for all our toiletries.   I opened up the suitcase and it was never used..OMG!! I couldn’t believe how clean and pristine it was.. and the best part – no smell!!!!

Do you see how clean this is… wow…

Even the little side pouch was in perfect condition.  Realizing how bad the airplane crew damages luggage, I began using vintage ones because if they’re damaged I wouldn’t loose too much money on expensive luggage.

The train case was slightly used.. but nothing that a little awesome can’t clean

I like the fact they have my first initial (too bad not the W but I’ll look for a sticker  to fix that.

If only I could luck up with a plane ticket then I’ll be good to go 🙂

Well that’s all I have to share for now.   If you thrifty eyes have found any items, and would like to share,  post them on Instagram using hashtag #urthriftygirlfinds  and I will feature them.  You can also follow me on my thrifting journey on Twitter or Instagram where I’m posting pictures of my other fab finds.  Remember as always “It’s VivaLaVintage”!!

Bon Jour Loveys.. Smooches..
