Friday Finds #3

Thank God  it’s Friday and I’m pooped out.   Having Monday off is really going to come in handy.   But moving right along to the subject at hand.  It’s Friday and time to show you the Friday Finds for the week.

Item #1

I had a feeling it was going to be a good week when I spotted the salad spinner.  I was very happy to have found it at Goodwill for $2.75.  Right now Target sells it for $21.99

Item #2

A chandelier for my brother’s house.   Picked this up at a yard sale for $10.00, and guess what.. it was never used

It was still in the box taped up –

Item #3

Picked up at a yard sale for $5.00 –  Found by Amina – I’m sure you guys remember how fun it was to have these chairs in our rooms as teenagers.  And guess what…the cheapest you can find them now is at Target again for $57.09 – $72.99 ( Great Find Amina!!!)

And last but not least.. another terrific bargain

Item #4

This was found here in town at our local thrift store Lighthouse.  It’s our town’s Goodwill.  Items are donated and the shop is ran by volunteers.  My mom is the thrifty gal behind this find.  She paid $40.00 for the vanity and bench.  I was shocked by it being perfectly intact.

As you see.. it’s in the blood… chuckles.. A generation of Thrifty Gals…

Well that’s all I have for now.. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy your “BBQ” .

$2.00 Tuesday #10

Yes! I’m happy to be able to post another $2.00 Tuesday.  It’s good knowing there are still items floating around worth $2.00 to decorate your home with.   I have to give credit on this find to my twin – Amina.   She found this chair on the curbside.. sitting lonely –  helplessly waiting to be saved from the dumpster (poor ole chair just looking for a home).   She held onto it for a while until she realized her daughter needed a small chair for a corner area in her bedroom where she practices her guitar.   She pulled the chair from the attic and decided it was ready for a makeover.  Here is the lonely little chair:   I know, pretty drab right???

She already had the paint for another project but changed her mind. However, it was the perfect color to brighten up the chair to give it a funky  new look that really pleases my niece.   So the chair was free, but the fabric is what cost $2.00.  She found it on the remnant table.   The chair has a new home, a new look and a new attitude…    So … “How you like me now!?”

Kudos to Amina!! For contributing to the $2.00 Tuesday.  If you find an item and would like to share, please let me know – I’d love to feature it.  Have a wonderful week!

Friday Finds

First I’d like to say “TGIF”!!!  It’s been one of those weeks that Friday couldn’t come soon enough..I’m sure some of you can join me with this feeling.   I’ve been hitting Goodwill religiously every week and thought I’d start sharing my finds with you.  I’ve found so many great items, some I lucked up being able to buy – some I didn’t get there soon enough and lost out on.  I know you’re probably wondering “what the heck is she shopping for now?”  (like my husband does) but again .. remember the word.. THRILL..  gotta do it.  But actually, I’ve been shopping with a purpose also.  I’m helping my brother decorate his home.  He purchased a home last year and have been working at it little by little.  It was a fixer-upper that was a GODFATHER of a deal.. (you know – an offer he couldn’t refuse).  The price ($5,000) he couldn’t resist.  Trust me..I didn’t fault him one bit.  I’m going to take you on a journey of his house next week – so follow along.  But moving on to my Friday Finds..

I was coming home from work last Friday and came across this yard sale in town.. could you believe this set was $40.00 (there are 4 chairs – one just wasn’t in the picture).  Naturally – I snagged that.. of course the chairs will be recovered – in due time

This pair of wall sconces were snagged at Goodwill for $4.75ea.. They’ll get a face lift (of course)

This chandelier is perfect for his kitchen (which is yellow and white). This cutey was found at Goodwill for $9.75.  I’ll give the gold a new polished look

For me – I like this plate.. the color is springy.. so that came home with me for $1.75

Last but not least.. which I love.. This big Sunflower dish.. I figured it would look lovely propped on his counter.  His favorite football team is Minnesota Viking and he’s wanting yellow & purple in his kitchen.  So for $2.75 it’s in the trunk headed to its new home.

sunflower

This is one thing that I couldn’t buy.. can you say “drats, drats and double drats”  it was only $40.75 – Someone else beat me to it..

Well guys, these were my Friday Finds.. Tune in again for next Friday to see what else I snag.. Until then.. enjoy your weekend and Happy Hunting!!

A Goodwill Week

This past week I had been lucky at Goodwill.  I just thought I’d share some of the things I came across.  You know I don’t need a blankety blank thang, but I’m actually addicted to the thrill of the hunt.. ( I need therapy – seriously) – someone please introduce me to Will Power… chuckles.

Well here we go with what I saw… This dusty little cooler bag was the perfect size for my son to take with him out fishing.  Judging by the dust on the outside, I knew it was going to be dirty inside…

But I was totally surprised  –  how wrong I was!  (and btw.. it was $2.75)

Then I came across these office chairs.. Yes they were a bit outdated, but nothing that some new fabric and spray paint can’t fix – the wheels work perfect (I scooted around for a test drive).  They were $2.75 each  (what a steal)

Up next – these chairs… I really dig the modern shape and yes, they were comfortable and sturdy.  The wood was in perfect condition.  Just update the fabric and they’d be a great pair of vintage inspired sitting chairs.  The best part – their bargain price $5.75 each

This slipper chair was just $4.87 (let’s ditch the outdated orange velvet fabric – blah- with some new up-to date fabric and you’ll have  fantastic slipper chair.  This also was a comfortable chair..the springs were in tact

I really wanted this two-seater sofa, but someone plucked the tag (beat me to the punch).  I just imagined a nice metallic paint and new fabric would make this a fabulous piece.  The price??  a mere $42.75

Lucked up with another macrame plant holder for $1.75 (I couldn’t leave this behind)

So you see why I enjoy the thrill of the hunt.  So I guess you’re wondering what I came home with..well..truth is… none of them (except the plant holder).  Will Power almost came to the rescure, but as I was walking out the door, I glanced over at the shoe section.. (WHY??? I’ll never know – I never-ever look at their shoes.. and I mean never)  but for some reason the shoes didn’t look “beat up”.  I spotted these sandals – never worn in mint condition.  I tried them on – perfect fit!  Hmmm… I really like them for my jeans.. so home they came…. and guess what.. they were $2.87 – LOL!!!  I had to smh and say “Kim (my alter ego) GO HOME”

So … you feel where I’m coming from…. I love the thrill of the hunt.  What about you??    Someone please tell me I’m not alone..LOL!

Goodwill Trip

I made a trip to the Goodwill again, feeling a bit discouraged because lately I hadn’t lucked up on anything.  I did find a hurricane and a square vase, so I picked them up.   They’ll come in handy one day.

Then I received the latest Pier 1 magazine in the mail and this caught my eye:

The hurricane vase.. see their price – $40.00 with 20% off (whoopdy-doo)  just hurricane wood base $32.00

The hurricane I lucked up on was $6.75 – so I decided to re-create the look for less using the hurricane vase I picked up at Goodwill and the $1.00 candle I bought the last time Goodwill Hunting.    I found a base I had lying around the house, and some stones from other plants and created the look.    So I re-dressed the table update.   My update cost –  a mere $7.75  (boo-yahhh!)

I also added a simple little touch to the table

I definitely like the new look of this table.  So I feel confident to continue with project.
