Sometimes the best yardsales are the unplanned sales.. you know….the kind that you just decide “I need to get rid of shyt real quick”.. well that’s what happened this past weekend – a local auctioneer, Ammons Auction, needed space and had a quick sale and my intention was gather some of my own stuff and join the sale, but the thrill of shopping got the best of me. I’m weak.. and I truly need rehab…let’s move along because I don’t want to depress myself (lol), but first, I want to talk about this space that needed addressing. Not that I disliked it, but my plants weren’t getting the proper sunlight and I didn’t want to lose them, so they needed to be moved. I just couldn’t decide what to display on top of this etagere.
Looking kinda pitiful – as if to say- you’d better hurry up and decide or we’re about to bounce.. chuckles. .. poor babies..
Then during one of my nightly instagram scrolls, I spotted theeeee most beautiful amber decanter from Arienne of Dressing Rooms Interiors Studio. Yes!! That baby caught my eye and that’s exactly when it hit me.. add my colorful decanters to the space and this one was the cherry I needed (side note – isn’t that credenza totally freaking fabulous!!!)
The green babies came out and my decanter collection went up. I’m scared to admit I want to build on it (lol) but I’ll admit it here secretly.
This is a much better look because I don’t have to worry about the babies up there anymore. Now, it’s just an occasional dusting and we’re all good (excuse the cords showing, but hey, it’s my electronics and I haven’t (more like won’t) upgraded to a wireless system.
Now since that dilemma was solved, who knew I’d solve the next one at this pop-up yardsale…. A big wow for me. When I gave the foyer a refresh, I really didn’t know how I wanted it to look, but when I put the rattan settee in here, I loved the vibe. I needed to build on it and the polished coat rack was in this corner (you can see the horrid before here)
I’ve tried art work and it just didn’t do anything for me.. so it’s been pretty bland – remember.. patience- then you see what I scored at the yardsale and Bam! I found my “differentness”.. and the rattan screen was it. I can’t tell you how freaking excited I was!! These were my goodies scored.
I got them home, gave the screen a cleaning (uggghh… what a b to do) and hung it on the wall as the backdrop to the rack. It added texture to the wall.
I’m totally loving the screen on this wall because it covers the space and gives it the “ummph” it needed – especially with the settee.
Hope you all stay safe and Covid-free if you’re out there thrifting and as always – Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home!
Great finds!
Love how you styled everything and the screen on the wall… ah-mazing!
The decanters are adorable Sis, Love dem,
Great themed groupings and color! I can see using the screen as a headboard too. Given all the virus related messages in our mailboxes these days, your blog is a true pleasure!
