Botanical Prints

Sometimes when you’re thrifting, do you come across items you like but seem to can’t imagine them in your home? Lately I’ve been seeing botanical prints and have taken a liking to them.  Given I have plant fetish, I’m not surprised that I’ve been attracted to them, but none the less, I just didn’t think to hang any in my home.  I then started looking for a few inspirations pictures to help with the decision “to do or not to do” and found these.  Each room is tastefully styled and really like them.

See how adding botanical prints can give any room a bit of nature inspired decor and having shades of green is a good way to introduce color into a neutral scheme.  A warm, natural palette feels calm and welcoming for your living space.  A few months ago I stumbled into Restore Habitat and found this botanical print for $15.00

I love the green/brown tone of the print and it kind of reminded me of a Florida room.    I carried it all around the store and when it was time to check out – I second guessed myself and put it back.  After leaving that store we visited the Goodwill and I found this pair of botanical prints at Goodwill for $14.99 each.  Honestly speaking I was admiring the frames more than the prints and decided they’d make it in the cart.  I continued shopping around and all the while looking at them and saying “hmmmm.. should I?

Well needless to say I decided to give them a whirl.  When I got them home, I just shoved them in my stash and didn’t think too much more about them.. (hoarding symptoms are back) lol..  These were professionally framed and matted pieces that were 24×30.  They still had the Kirkland’s tag on them for $90.00 each.  Again I was still on the fence about hanging botanical prints because black art is most of the art collection I have hanging throughout the house.  You know I decorate in spirts – meaning – aka – when I come across things.  The far wall in our bedroom has been a bit of an imbalance to me, and just thought I’d build a gallery of pictures around our wedding picture.  Then I came to the conclusion…. that’s not happening.  But you see my dilemma…

The other side looked like this..which I was pleased with.

Last week while I was moving things around and boxing items up I came across the forgotten pair of botanical prints and decided to give them a try.. I mean .. what the heck right??  So I dusted them off and hung them.  I actually like them after all.  So guys, I’ll need your opinion.. what’s your take on them.. Oh and btw.. I’m boohooing over the loss of my palm.. I had a major outbreak of mealy bugs on both of them and had to trash them before they infected my other babies.  I worked diligently trying to get rid of them but I lost the battle.  Trust me I was verrrrrry upset over losing it.  Ok .. enough of that babble.. on to the prints decision.

This is the full view of the wall area.  I need to move them up about 5inches, but before I poke more holes in the wall I figure I’d pitch it out here so you all can help me decide because when I asked the hubs.. all I got was a shoulder shrug… geeeshhh.. men..lol..

So everyone… help a sista out…should I keep them up or move on to something else?

I look forward to hearing from you.  BTW.. I hope you’re having fun out there thrifting your house into a home!!

CIAO!!!!

  1. I’m voting a move to the dining room. I sure wish I would have known you were on this collecting spree. I just dropped off a trunkful of botanical prints at e thrift store!!!!!!!! Ugh! I would have gladly dropped them off at your house when we get on the road in the next couple of months!!! I only kept 4 which are in our master bedroom flanking the giant armoire that holds sheets and towels. Ratz!!!!!!!!!😤 I would have MUCH RATHER gifted the others to you!!!

    • Hey Alycia.. thank you for your opinion… I appreciate that. I’ve enjoyed looking at botanical prints for a while but never thought to buy any until I lucked up.. But I sure would have been happy to get yours!! Oh well.. but what this road trip?? If you are in the area near me – PUUUULEEEZE hit me up!! 🙂

  2. I love botanical prints and these are beautiful and the frames are priceless. I like them in your bedroom they add a collected overtime look like the rest of your home. When you want a new look, move them to another area in your home but by all means do not “git” rid of these prints.

    • Thanks Marsha.. I appreciate your opinion as well.. it’s a big dilemma.. They’re actually growing on me the longer I keep them up. I definitely won’t get rid of them, but it’s still up in the air where they’ll stay.

  3. While I do love a good botanical print I am unsure of these in this space. I think they are beautiful but in this room they just fall a bit flat. I think your well trained decorator eye is feeling the same way… I second the reader who suggested maybe the dining room?

    • Hi Rennie… flat was the perfect word to describe what I’m thinking…it’s like they’re blending into the wall. I appreciate your opinion as well..

    • Hey Ida..thanks for your suggestion.. I’m glad you like them.. I would definitely give the dining room a try…

  4. You know I love your Black art too! But I like them, think you should keep them up. Added bonus – they actually draw more attention to the plants in the print on the adjacent wall!

    • Hey there Nicki!… I’m glad to hear you’re loving my art…That’s my initial thought when I hung them there – thinking they would accent the plants in the area.. They are growing on me, but I have a strong feeling they’ll be moved.. (but no time soon).. You know.. it takes me a while to find something.. lol.. but I’ll definitely keep you posted on my decision. thanks again lady
