Tuesday Thriftscapade

Hey Guys! I’ve been so caught in the One Room Challenge, that I forgot to share all the goodies I’ve come across while searching for a few things (as if I really need to be out looking for stuff. smh), but it’s what I love doing.  So, let’s move on to the goodies – shall we..  First up is this gorgeous love seat.  I immediately fell in love with the vintage orange satin chinoiserie fabric it was covered in.  I sure they’re going to have it recovered, but it would be nice (since there were no tears) they’d just have it cleaned and adore the fabric a bit longer.  The sofa was marked $50.00 but it was sold.

This square coffee table was a steal at $12.50 (notice the small chest of drawers in the background -all were half off prices ranging from $30-70)

There was a pair of these bucket swivel chairs, with the matching ottoman it was $125.00

What had my heart was this burl wood beauty  chest of drawers.  If we had room to bring it – I’d have right now in my possession.  It was $85.00

This  pine wood dresser with the mirror was $37.50

Nice rattan dinette set for under $100.00

The mid-century Milo Baughman brass bed was $129.00  (I soooo desperately want that too).  These are extremely hard to find, side note (If i go back and it’s still there it’s mine)

The cream of the thrift crop was when I got a text from my friend Machelle.  I couldn’t text her back fast enough GET IT!!  It’s a vintage Franco Albini rattan set.  I’ve been trying to find one for the longest and had no luck.  Now you see how crucial it is to have a thriftsquad -LOL.. we look out for each other because we can’t be everywhere.  It was tagged $100.00 for the entire set and was in dire need of TLC, but I still wanted it. Even though she had already left the store, she went back the next day to get it and they marked it down even more. (Now I wanted to faint -LOL)

My main focus was the bench.  I had no room for the other 3 pieces but who cares – I’m not leaving them.  I contacted my son, Jamil because he has a screened patio and could use some sprucing up.  He took the other 3 pieces and they fit perfect in his space (you know there will be a trickle down effect – because now I want to do more ).  But moving along, to get this set back to life I had to wash it with the Murphy’s Oil soap and then rinse.  I followed up with lemon oil and then Scotch Guard and they’re looking great.

I used the bench in my foyer.

Eventually I’ll find the right bottom cushion for them, but for now I pulled some pillows from my stash for a stylish look.

The other 3 pieces are off to my son’s place and ready for a patio refresh.  I’ve been working on slowly adding a few touches to his apartment to cozy it up a bit.  Our time schedule makes it a slow process but it’s cool, it just gives me more time to be out thrifting.  Now back to my office refresh for the one room challenge.  To honest, this has made me want to move on to our family room, but I know that’ll take some time because I want to get a wall unit built around the tv (big task).  Before I leave, I just want to give a big shout out to Machelle for looking out for a fellow sister.  Thanks for joining me on another thriftscapade and I’ll see you Thursday with an office update.   In the meantime – Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home!

CIAO!!!
