Hey everyone! You know I love the thrill of the hunt and when I decided to refresh this room, I knew I didn’t want to spend lots of money. I had a small budget and and I stuck to it. Finding decor pieces at retail stores can add up and cause you to overspend on the budget. Luckily, there were a few items I found for $2.00 to add to the space and in this post, I’ll show you all them. This picture below captures three items I purchased for $2.00 each. Taking it back to last year when I snagged this tassel from the fabric store going out of business for $2.00, I used it to adorn a basket, however, I think the doorknob could use a dressing. The vintage rattan fan and black cat were $2.00 each. Those were pre-covid shopping trips where I found items and bought them just because -hey- they were $2 bucks.
Just recently I found this beautiful beaded tassel at another thrift store for $2.00
and it adorns the other doorknob opposite the other door in the room.
I popped into our local Goodwill on my lunch looking for a picture frame and spotted this vintage pressed glass art deco dish – again for $2.00
and of course you already know the picture frames holding the family photos all cost $2.00
The green chinoserie planter – yup- you guessed it..
The leopard throw over the chair
Again, the family picture frames were $2.00 each
the wicker basket planter on the floor and the brown tassel trim on the other basket.
and the biggest $2.00 score was the antique mirror. Now, granted, this was a big surprise to me. My buddy Johnathan was having another yard sale to get rid of stuff and I went looking for a frame for another piece of art (which I’ll show you in another post) and found these two treasures. They had to be meant to be for me, because I just caught the sale at the end of the day.
I was looking for something to hang in back of the afro bust and this mirror added the perfect antique backdrop, without clashing.
So, I hope this gave you some insight on how you can find items to decorate your home without shopping at the dollar store or retail stores. Thrift stores have items for $1.99 – you just have to take time to spot them. By choosing small pieces at low prices, you’re able to splurge on other pieces to balance the budget. So happy hunting – while you thrift your house into a home!

Thanks Machelle! Glad you liked all my goodie finds.
Those $2.00 tassels are amazing! Great size and detail. That one wicker basket kind of echos the lines of the big chair -very cool. Love looking at the detail in your arrangements.
Hey Ruth!! I know right.. amazing.. and considering what tassels are going for now.. that’s a serious bargain I found. Thanks again for reading and your compliment.. hope all is well with you.
