I’m In – The One Room Challenge

What can I say… I got caught up in the moment..  I only hope I can pull it off.  Over the past couple of months, I’ve been trying to tackle a new look for the dining room and haven’t gotten far at all.  Between working in the Living Room, and normal day to day stuff, I have not been able to stay focused in here.  I know partly, it’s because I have to pack alot of this stuff away in order to move the furniture, meanwhile it has come a complete dump zone with it also being a staging area for items I’m listing for sale.  When I walk into my home my eyes zero in on this room and I can’t take it anymore with it looking like I started a war in here lol (frfr).  So this challenge came right on time.  It’s like striking a match under my ass to get me up and running.  If you’re new here and wondering what’s the challenge..?  Well it’s a motivational event to help you get projects done and it’s my second time joining in as a guest participant.  My first was when I created my think tank bomb-ass office (and you can see the reveal here).  The One Room Challenge (ORC), is a home interior design event created by design blogger Linda Weinstein of Calling It Home, where 20 featured designers and several guest designers (which is where I fit in) are embarking on a renovation project of one room in their home. All participating designers have 8 weeks to complete this invigorating challenge. Each week designers share their progress via blog posts and social media channels, and we get to follow along to see the transformations unfold. Be sure to follow all of their progress on Instagram with the hashtag #oneroomchallenge or on the ORC blog page (www.oneroomchallenge.com/orc-blog)

Better Homes and Gardens magazine is the primary media sponsor of this event which adds to the excitement.   Over the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my progress  but first I’m laying out my game plan.

Here’s  my weekly schedule to-do list:

Week 1: Clear out the space for a blank slate.
Week 2: Select molding and paint colors; begin to add molding and paint walls
Week 3: Paint the chairs and reupholster the seat cushions
Week 4: Add new window treatments
Week 5: Re-organize the space
Week 6: Start to release the tension and implement items back into the room                                                                                                                                                                                        Week 7: Begin to redecorate for photos                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Week 8:  Reveal

Sounds simple enough right.. Well let’s hope for the best.  I’m pretty nervous about it because I don’t have a drop-dead gorgeous plan in mind, but I’ll wing it as I go along.  There are so many participants in this event, so I hope you tune in for all their wonderful make-overs and cheer them on as well.  Sooooo… ready, set GO!!
