I mean really — we all know the power of flavor onions pack.

I kid you not.. this is so simple and they have a gourmet taste…

Peel and slice onions to desired thickness.  Heat small saucepan, add olive oil and butter.  Once butter is melted, add garlic and saute for approximately 1 min.  Add onions and saute approximately 5 mins (or until onions soften).  Sprinkle rum-raisin liqueur on top and stir .. simmer until caramelizes.  Serve hot on top of steak, burger or chicken

Recipe Notes

Vidalia onions are the best onions because of their natural sweet garlicky taste

I love using Vidalia onions to cook with, but now, I’m loving them more.

This bottle of rumraisin is going to be gone soon.. I hope my husband takes me back to Curacao soon to get more…(lol)  yea right…

but in the meantime, I’ll indulge with my taste of the island infused onions.  So next time you make your steak, go for the onions and add more flavor.

Do you use Vidalia onions?  If so, how do you like them and how do you caramelize them?

As always – Cooking is easy with “TLC” – CIAO!!!!

  1. Gurl, those look so good. I’ve got all types of rum might have to try it. But my all time favorite is caramelized onions with a shot of bourbon and liquid smoke. And yes I use Vidalia onions.
