Drink on the Wild Side

Sure I love going to thrift stores and hitting Goodwill stores, but let’s be frank.. Estate sales and/or auctions are always the best places to find some good shyt.  I have to be thankful because my sister and dear friend conduct some the best sales in NJ.  When my sister sent me the link with the pictures, I zeroed in on the glasses. Not that I need any more, but the leopard glasses had me jonesing for them.  Yea… I had to have them in my collection.  Truth be told I wanted both sets, but my sister kindly reminded me.. (Kim, you don’t need anymore glasses)  The blue and gold Georges Briards were beautiful and are highly collected by vintage glass collectors.

You all know I have an animal print fetish and have the pattern scattered around the house.  But drinking glasses!! I was like “awwww shucks!!!  When she sent them down, I was even more happy when I saw them in person.  The gold rim was the perfect accent touch for them.  A while back I scored big with the Culver Glassware at Goodwill, then I scored the royal blue depresssion glassware at Restore Habitat, and these babies were scored at Pieces of Time Estate Sale.

I was excited to set them up for styling (I know.. it doesn’t take much to get me excited).  Some people really don’t pay much attention to glasses and how they feel while drinking, but there is a difference.  Some glasses have fatter rims and feel awkward while drinking from them, some are extremely thin and feel like they’ll cut your lip and break while using them.  Not these.. They have a smooth rounded rim, feel perfect, look fabulous and the gold rim gives them an elegant finish.

I found a mother of pearl stylish serving tray at Ross’s Dress for Less for $9.99 to display them on.  I pulled out my pineapple drink stirrers and they’re all ready for some exotic drinks.

If you glance through you can see that the tray matches a vase I’ve had for years.

Next I tried a pre-Fall tablesetting.   I kept the chargers and added my white and gold rim plates.   I was recently gifted a set of awesome hand-carved bullhead napkin holders from West Africa.   I paired them with the glasses and thought they were a perfect match.

Have you gone to an estate sale lately?  If so, what did you score?  BTW..The blue and gold Briard glasses are still available… If interested, drop a note here in the comments for Amina or Renee to contact you.  To learn more about this designer vintage glassware and their value, click here.

As you see I’m totally happy with this estate sale find.  As always, Happy hunting while you thrift your house into a home
