How to Style Your Music Player in Your Decor Pt 2

When I created the Accounts to Inspire post, I was surprised to read all the wonderful comments and feedback, so I decided to continue with Part II of more inspiration pictures to inspire you to  incorporate your music player into your home décor.  In today’s digital world, it’s sometimes necessary to reflect on when things were simple and for me, sitting in my room with my sister, cousins and friends playing records and doing dances were just fun times and carefree feelings… and yes, sometimes the record would skip and annoy us but hey.. that’s vinyl for you.  Nonetheless, it didn’t detract from the memorable moments.  I’m amazed at how often I see see people in thrift stores browsing through records, appearing to look for something that would strike up their nostalgia.  When my niece wanted her own Stevie Wonder Songs in The Key of Life, I happened to stumble on it before I knew she wanted one for her birthday and was thrilled to be able to give her that gift.  Are you one who still browse the vinyl section in thrift stores and estate sales?

and in addition she also got John Coltrane’s  A Love Supreme and Teena Marie (two of her other favorites)

Well let’s continue to see who else feels the need to have the throwback days of music in their homes and how they keep the vibe alive.

Let’s start with interior designer N’Ckyola, who blogs at 4th House on the Right.  Her creative solution is to make home & life beautiful, functional, & sustainable without going broke.  For her home, music is essential in her design aesthetics.

Ericka Alston-Buck embraces the afro-boho decor and music is a key element in her style

Brianna who is the Mrs. to the Mr. of Mintchai has her music player stylishly in the family room and it’s blended beautifully with her neutral decor.

Another vintage, thrifting + DIY addict decorator Elizabeth Scranton, who blogs at Indigo and Fern has her music player styled in front of her creative basket wall

Kristina at Oak and Pine is a designer sharing her marvelous misadventures in renovating a 1960’s rancher with DIY projects, home decor, houseplants, and a little magic and of course a music player is necessity.  She once had it styled on a buffet until her keen eyes spotted the show-stopper mid-century cabinet and now it houses her system.

Then I found this really swanky home decor on Pinterest and had to share.

Whether you’re in the beginning stages of collecting or a stone die-hard collector, no matter your décor style, there’s a way to incorporate your music player to add to the comforts of home.   Let’s have little fun to add to this post.. how about you drop the name(s) of a few favorite albums you enjoyed listening to back in the day.  I’ll start the party with my favorites…  Diana Ross “the Boss”,  Chic LeFreak, and Teena Marie “Behind the Groove”.  I look forward to reading your comments on this  – smiling at all the wonderful tunes you’ll list.   Happy Hunting while you thrift your house into a home!

CIAO!!!!!

  1. I loved all of the beautifully styled musical decor you highlighted!!!! My favorite was Kristina’s Mid Century cabinet…so stunning! I grew listening to albums, 45s, 8 tracks and cassettes. Favorites: Anything by Aretha, Nancy Wilson, Roberta Flack, Temptations, Spinners, Four Tops, etc. Though my collection is small, I love listening to my vinyl of Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson to name a few…

  2. Love this. I purchased an old stereo high-fo system and had it refurbished, it’s one of my prized pieces. The sound quality is amazing. I thrift albums and have found some classic gems. I’ve also purchased some new albums as well. Nostalgic and wonderful.

  3. Thanks so much for including me with all these gorgeous spaces! Super sweet story about memories with your sister!! And your niece.

Estate sales are the best for finding records – I don’t even look through them anymore, just buy whole crates 😂. Some of my faves are Purple Rain & Sade Promises b/c they were the 1st I bought for myself & Minnie Ripperton.

I enjoy reading your comments
