One Room Challenge: Week 1: Office Refresh

Call me crazy, because I’m a glutten for punishment..lol.. (as if I really have the time) but guess what?

I’m joining my first One Room Challenge (ORC)! The ORC is hosted by Calling it Home, and it’s a twice-a-year blogging event that challenges participants to completely redesign a space in 5 weeks. I am not a designer, but a lot of DIY bloggers/decorator enthusiasts join the ORC as guest participants (that’s where I fit in).

Since I created my office as my sanctuary to blog about my thrift decor, I felt it needs some sprucing up.  It’s been six years since I’ve done this space and over the years I’ve let things get a bit stuffy because of lack of storage and organization.  It’s a tight space but had I kept it organized and less cluttered, it’d more useful.  So, for motivation, I thought why not – it would be fun to jump in this round and make a go for it.  Here is the space I’ll be giving some love to.

It came far from looking like this back in 2013 when I first exposed the mess.  It was truly a dump zone.

The de-cluttering was the most grueling part but after a few hours and realizing I could trash most of it, i was happy to see the clean slate

Although it’s no where near this bad, it just needs some additional loving to make me feel more comfortable.  I appreciate you taking the time to follow me on this 5-week journey and hopefully you’ll pick up a few tips along the way.

If you’re new here – welcome to my blog.  I’m a thrift decor blogger who loves sprucing up spaces with vintage finds.

My goals for this space are:

  • Since this is a small space, I’d like to create a visual inspiration space to keep me motivated
  • Establish better ways of organization
  • Paint the walls
  • Upgrade my computer and work station

Not much – but hopefully, it’ll make a nice impact.

Here’s  my weekly schedule to-do list:

Week 1: Clear out the space for a blank slate.
Week 2: Select paint colors and paint walls/stencil or fabric wall
Week 3: Add more shelving; buy new office chair and computer
Week 4: Shop for storage bins and baskets
Week 5: Finalize and hang wall art and decorate the space
Week 6: Done!

Wish me luck that I’ll finish on time – God knows these weeks will fly by.. ..  and Now…time to start decluttering and get painting!
