Making 2021derful

Happy New Year and all that Jazz everyone!! I’m praying this post finds you healthy, safe and feeling in better spirits. I know it’s been one heck of a year but as we begin another year, it’s always best to face it with positive thoughts and hopes the changes we vow to make happen for ourselves -happen.  At least those are some of my usual feelings.  Also, I want to start off by thanking you – yes YOU- for hanging in here with me throughout the years and yet you still find my little ole’ blog something special to read and me as a cyberfriend you connect with.  I’m truly blessed to have you to share this in my life.  As I look back at all the pandemic atrocities, I simply couldn’t find the energy (desire) to post as often as I would have liked to.

I clearly remember times I’d sit behind the computer, all hyped and ready to start typing, and then my momentum was like a candle burning quickly melting the wax away and then poof- the flame is gone.  One thing this pandemic has taught me is how precious time really is and what truly matters.  It’s given me more time to really think about how short life can really be and at a flick of a moment, things can change so quickly and the life we once had isn’t the same.  Between the social distancing, the depression, the worry, the scare, the frustrations and even the loneliness, all these can really take a toll on one’s feelings and emotions.  I hope through it all you’ve found moments of happiness, moments to reflect, moments to check off the to-do list, moments to maybe even watch those home videos you’ve kept tucked away in boxes (to make you smile) to have some good happen out of a bad situation.

As for me, I continued working my two jobs for the most part of the year, and through it all, I managed to participate in a One Room Challenge for my bathroom

I decided to go Afro-Boho and took time to do another quick for my guest room room refresh

The Brick Cottage had more work completed  and we’re happy about the that.

Made over this beautiful art deco cabinet – to display my swanky glassware collection.

and also did some thrifting to make small changes without breaking the bank.

We also had the town’s I2I Yard Sale, which I’m glad we did.  It provided a bit of normalcy relief that many die-hard thrifters needed so badly.  So all in all, it wasn’t too bad of a year, but we’re hoping for better days.  I don’t have much of an agenda for 2021 but one thing I have planned is some more wonderful home tours.  There’s so many other thrifters who are happily thrifting their houses into homes.  I don’t plan to do much thrifting this year because I’ve collected so much, I need to focus on letting stuff go.  I’ve even decided to re-opened my etsy shop to begin selling items along with some pillows I’ve been making (I will be adding more items on a regular basis – but I’ve some unpacking to do).

I want to end on a humble note of letting you all know again that I’m truly grateful that you’re still here with me and following along on my thriftscapades and being inspired to decorate your home.  Until next week – enjoy hunting to make your house a home – thrift style!

  1. So glad you are back Jamala! Happy New Year to you as well. I appreciate your review of the past year’s accomplishments. Sometimes we get so caught up in what we have yet to do, that we forget to savor what we’ve already done. What ever new directions you take in 2021, I look forward to following your projects.
